Version 1.8
October 2026
AutoMEP Version 1.8 draws new work to your office's own CAD standard: your layers, your text styles and your symbols, even on drawings that came from someone else.
What changed
- Your CAD standard: under Settings, Your CAD standards, upload your office's .dwg or .dwt template. AutoMEP checks it, which doesn't count against your usage, reads its layers and text styles and lists the blocks that look like symbols.
- Symbols you confirm: AutoMEP guesses what each symbol is. Confirm the guess, pick a different kind and choose "Use this kind", or mark it as not a symbol. When two blocks look like the same thing, it asks you to pick and uses neither until you do.
- A default for the account and a choice per project: pick the standard each project uses, or none, and add project notes such as which layer receptacles go on.
- Your standard wins for new work: new layers, text and symbols follow it, even when the drawing came from an architect or a client. Your standard never changes what's already in the drawing, and a layer, style or block the drawing already has keeps the drawing's version.
- Plain words when it can't: if your standard is drawn in different units from the drawing, the job card says its symbols were left out. If it has no symbol for what you asked for and AutoMEP draws one itself, the job notes say so. When a job uses your standard, its card says which one.
- Notes in quotes, word for word: put a note in quotes and AutoMEP writes it exactly as you typed it.
- Room symbols clear the room tag: devices placed in each room now step clear of the room's name and number.
- Jobs that stall get wrapped up: if a job stops partway and can't finish, it's closed and your usage is returned, and if the work was already done, you get the result.
- Revit models it couldn't read before now run: AutoMEP reads which Revit release saved a model more reliably, including on large models.
