Does AutoMEP route around walls and furniture?
Yes, and this is the part most drawing automation gets wrong. A straight line from the equipment to the outlet is easy to draw and useless on a real plan, because it goes through the stair, the island and two walls on the way.
AutoMEP indexes your drawing before it plans anything: walls, blocks, furniture, closed areas and every text label. The route is then planned around what is there, in straight horizontal and vertical runs the way a service would actually be installed.
You can steer it. Say "follow the corridor", "keep it in the ceiling void above the hallway", or "do not route through the walls", and it will. Say which room to start in and which to finish in and it will find both from their labels.
Areas marked out of scope. When your drawing labels an area NOT IN CONTRACT, HORS LOT or something similar, AutoMEP keeps new work out of it, and cable trays you ask for run through the rooms around it.
What it will not do is decide clearances or coordinate against structure you have not drawn. It routes around what is in the file, plus the walls and room names of any linked drawings you've added to the project. Anything that only exists in another model is not something it can see.
